The Chakras

From the base of the spine to the tip of the head there are found 7 energy centres or Chakras. Our emotions, physical bodies and thoughts all interact with each other through these chakras. Each chakra relates to a colour of the rainbow and to an area of human life and being. When the Chakras are all balanced and in harmony, we are holistically healthy and full of vitality.

Base Chakra

Meaning = The foundation

Associated colour = RED

Location = Base of the Spine.

Relates to: Grounding, Survival, Instinct.

Work on this chakra if you feel 'spaced out' and ungrounded to reconnect you with the earth and develop and maintain a connection with nature.

Sacral Chakra

Also known as the Hara Chakra

Associated colour = ORANGE

Location = Just below the navel
Relates to: Sexuality and Creativity.

Work on this chakra will encourage us to open to and accept our sexual selves and our need for pleasure and nurturing. They can also help to unleash blocked creativity.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Associated colour = YELLOW

Location = Below the chest

Relates to: Personal power, Individual Will, Divine Will.

Work on this chakra will boost confidence and self-esteem, and help focus our intentions.

Heart Chakra

Associated colour = GREEN

Location = Centre of the chest

Relates to: Unconditional love on all levels, links the lower 3 chakras to the more spiritual higher chakras.

Work on this chakra will encourage the flow of love in your life.

Throat Chakra

Associated color = BLUE

Location = Throat

Relates to: Expression and communication. Links all other Chakras allowing us to eapress our creativity, will, intent and the truth in our hearts.

Work in this chakra will improve the flow of communication and support you in reconnecting to your own true voice when using chants or mantras.

Brow Chakra

Associated colour = INDIGO

Location = At the 'Third Eye' in the cente of the brow

Relates to: Wisdom, Intuition and Insight.

Work on this chakra will help you reconnect with and trust your inner guidance.

Crown Chakra

Associated colour = VIOLET

Location = Top of the head

Relates to: Higher Self, Spiritual Centre.

Work on this chakra will help us connect to our spiritual or higher self.
